About
Generator Rome sits about 15 minutes on foot from Roma Termini railway station, placing you within easy reach of trains, metro, and bus links. The hostel is roughly 2 km from the Altar of the Fatherland, and a number of guests note that the Colosseum is about a 15-minute stroll away. The immediate area around Termini is lively but can feel a little worn; multiple reviewers mention active police presence and a sense of being careful, especially late at night.
The hostel runs a 24-hour reception with express check-in/out and late check-out service. Facilities include a restaurant, snack bar, bar/lounge, and a paid rooftop bar that draws a sociable crowd. Dorm beds come with individual lighting, power sockets, and under-bed lockers; private rooms add en-suite bathrooms, soundproofing, and air conditioning. Free Wi-Fi covers the building, and luggage storage (paid lockers) is available before check-in or after checkout. Pets are allowed, and the property is equipped with lifts, key-card access, and smoke detectors.

8Verified guest“My stay at Generator Rome was fantastic — the location is convenient, just a short walk from Termini station. The area is a bit run-down but I never felt unsafe. The hostel itself was nice and neat, comparable to a 3-star hotel in New York City. Breakfast in the morning was a great start to the day, and the rooms, though small, were adequate. The air conditioning was welcome during the hot summer. I had a pleasant experience and would definitely recommend it.”
8Verified guest“I didn’t really like it. I was hoping it would be a super hostel, and it’s not.”
8Verified guest“The room I got looked exactly like the photos — spacious, bright, with a wide and comfortable bathroom where the shower and toilet are separated, basically like having two bathrooms. That was super convenient if someone needed the WC while I was showering. The bunks were comfortable, each with a light and power outlet so you don’t disturb others. Sheets were impeccable, and the locker under the bed was large. Cleanliness was excellent — both the room and common areas. If you arrive before check-in or leave after checkout, you can store your luggage in the paid lockers at the entrance. Breakfast was simple but abundant (paid). Staff spoke Spanish and were very attentive. There’s a bar where you can wait and have a drink — nice atmosphere. Value for money is optimal. The hostel is near Termini station, three or four blocks away, so it’s not an elegant area but there are police around. Being near Termini is a plus when you arrive very late or need to catch the airport train. One block behind the hostel is a metro station, which is also great if you’re tired of walking.”
8Verified guest“Convenient location. I loved the rooftop bar at night, even if the drinks were expensive. Staff were helpful — they let me print my tickets after my phone was stolen. I recommend it.”
8Verified guest“Perfect room cleanliness. Stylish youth interior downstairs. Fast Wi-Fi. Quick check-in. The Colosseum is about 1.5 km away and can be reached on foot.”
8Verified guest“Best hostel I’ve been to in a few years. Clean venue, conveniently located near Termini Station. Staff helped solve problems. The room had a comfortable bed that doesn’t wobble, with sockets and individual lighting in the headboard; bed linen was clean and fresh. My room had two showers — clean and spacious. The hostel is near the Vittorio Emanuele metro, from which you can easily reach anywhere in the city, and you can walk to the Colosseum in about 15 minutes. Everyone writes that it’s scary going back at night, but I got the impression that locals don’t care about you. Still, be careful — the area is really dysfunctional.”
